Ingredient Procurement Manager

Position Summary

The Ingredient Procurement Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply of raw ingredients used in the production of food and beverage products. This role requires strong supplier relationship management, cost optimization skills, and a deep understanding of food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for key ingredients to ensure consistent supply and cost efficiency.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers in alignment with quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize value and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to ensure ingredient specifications meet product requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain disruptions to proactively adjust sourcing strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and cost analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, certifications, and internal policies.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing environmentally responsible and ethically produced ingredients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, GFSI) and ingredient traceability.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with global sourcing and import/export regulations.
  • Familiarity with sustainable sourcing practices and supplier audits.
  • Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
