Material Planner
Position Overview
The Materials Planner will be responsible for ensuring timely availability of materials to meet production schedules. This includes purchasing from approved suppliers, optimizing inventory levels, and coordinating with internal teams and vendors to maintain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine optimal ordering and inventory levels based on demand, lead times, usage, cost, and supplier constraints.
- Purchase materials from approved vendors, ensuring timely delivery to meet production needs.
- Collaborate with plant operations, procurement, accounts payable, customer service, and suppliers to resolve issues and adapt to changes.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on material availability, quality, and cost; make informed decisions during supply chain disruptions.
- Manage shortages, damages, returns, and miscellaneous orders to maintain high customer service standards.
- Provide vendor performance and product quality feedback to corporate procurement to strengthen supplier relationships.
- Improve inventory accuracy using MRP systems and manual adjustments as needed.
- Support product transitions, material improvement initiatives, and plant-wide physical inventory processes.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or administration.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective planning, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
