Position Overview

We are seeking a Process Shift Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Process Manager, this role is responsible for leading all shift personnel involved in processing raw materials and producing finished product. The supervisor will oversee operations across all processing stations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

This position requires a proactive leader who can implement best practices in industrial processing while fostering a culture of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess or be willing to develop strong mechanical and chemical knowledge, enjoy working in a manufacturing environment, and advocate for preventative maintenance.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as a safety leader by modeling safe behaviors and driving compliance with the plant safety plan, aiming for a zero-injury workplace.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Plan, organize, and direct shift personnel to optimize processing performance.
  • Ensure adherence to quality systems, processes, and procedures to deliver a high-quality product.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the production process and continuously seek improvements.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on process performance and operational issues.
  • Communicate effectively with all employees and foster collaboration.
  • Support training initiatives for employees at various factory stations to enhance productivity and control.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement programs.
  • Apply root cause analysis to resolve issues permanently.
  • Utilize key performance indicators to drive performance improvements.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate supply of materials for efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers, Maintenance, and Plant Management to ensure preventative maintenance is executed effectively.
  • Work closely with other Shift Supervisors to maintain smooth transitions between shifts and establish shift schedules.
  • Understand and enforce labor agreements as needed.
  • Spend up to 80% of time on the factory floor, engaging with employees, troubleshooting issues, and supporting operational excellence.

Skills & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Proven supervisory experience in a processing or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • 5-10 years of process experience ideal; candidates with relevant education and strong leadership potential will be considered.
  • Experience in industrial processing or refining preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in improving safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to learn continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong leadership, independent thinking, organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • High energy, results-oriented, and collaborative approach.
