Senior Process Control Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Process Control Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of chemical manufacturing processes. This role involves leading process control initiatives, troubleshooting complex control issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Control Design & Implementation
- Develop and maintain control strategies including PID loops, advanced process control (APC), and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Design and configure Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and SCADA systems.
- Create and maintain control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and interlock logic.
Optimization & Troubleshooting
- Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for control-related issues.
- Implement and maintain statistical process control (SPC) tools and dashboards.
Project Leadership
- Manage control system upgrades and expansions from feasibility through commissioning.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure control systems comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation including SOPs, system architecture, and change logs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in process control engineering within chemical or related manufacturing industries.
- Proficiency in control platforms such as DeltaV, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PCS7.
- Strong knowledge of process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS), instrumentation, and control theory.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
