Our client is a rapidly growing organization within the power and utilities sector, supporting large-scale energy infrastructure projects across the United States. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, the company is seeking a Director of Procurement to lead strategic sourcing efforts for critical electrical and substation equipment.
Position Summary
The Director of Procurement will be responsible for leading procurement strategy, supplier management, contract negotiations, and sourcing activities for major substation and electrical infrastructure projects. This individual will play a critical role in securing long-lead materials, managing supplier relationships, and mitigating supply chain risks across multiple concurrent projects.
The ideal candidate will bring deep procurement experience within the utilities, power generation, transmission & distribution (T&D), renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure sectors and have direct experience sourcing high-value substation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement strategy for utility-scale electrical infrastructure and substation projects.
- Source and negotiate contracts for major electrical equipment and materials.
- Manage supplier relationships and develop strategic sourcing partnerships.
- Drive cost savings while ensuring project schedules and quality requirements are met.
- Develop mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions, material shortages, and lead-time challenges.
- Partner closely with engineering, project management, construction, and executive leadership teams.
- Oversee purchasing activities across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Track market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier performance.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract management, and vendor performance reviews.
- Establish procurement processes, KPIs, and best practices to support continued organizational growth.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
- Direct experience procuring substation, utility, transmission & distribution, or power generation equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure projects and utility supply chains.
- Proven experience negotiating high-value equipment contracts.
- Experience managing long-lead capital equipment purchases.
- Demonstrated ability to build supplier relationships and influence executive stakeholders.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
