Injection Molding Engineer

The Injection Molding Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing injection molding processes. This position requires the engineer to exercise judgment in managing molding resources, support various projects within a product family, and take action in accordance with defined procedures. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with cross-functional departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Enhance molding processes and products through scientific injection molding activities and tool qualifications.
  • Project Management: Lead validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and manage project timelines.
  • System and Cost Analysis: Evaluate equipment performance, identify system improvements, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Problem Solving: Work independently and collaboratively with various departments to address complex problems and integrate subsystems into total systems design.

Long-Term Expectations

  • Project Management: Oversee projects related to molding equipment, tooling, and materials, ensuring adherence to program guidelines.
  • Vendor and Material Coordination: Collaborate with the Materials Group to evaluate vendors and provide necessary technical information.
  • Team Supervision and Training: Supervise project activities, train employees, and provide performance feedback.
  • Communication and Conflict Resolution: Facilitate effective communication and resolve conflicts collaboratively to build consensus.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced expertise in the domain, with familiarity in other areas within the team.
  • Proficiency in Scientific Injection Molding, including process, tooling, part design, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of automation, thermoplastic and LSR injection molding, part assembly, fixturing, testing, and process control techniques.
  • Experience with Six-Sigma Methodology and use of Minitab Software for analysis.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree related to STEM preferred
  • 4+ years of experience
