Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Service Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support to internal teams as well as field service and maintenance operations across North and South America. This position will focus on the design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support of mechanical components and systems.
The engineer will manage projects related to assigned component areas, support current and legacy equipment, develop solutions for obsolete components, create technical documentation, and assist field teams with complex mechanical issues. The position also includes occasional jobsite surveys, field testing, and travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage moderately complex engineering projects involving multiple technical disciplines.
- Provide mechanical engineering support for current production and legacy components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical components and systems in support of field service and maintenance teams.
- Design, analyze, inspect, and test mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings for parts and assemblies.
- Create and update spare parts documentation, technical publications, and work instructions.
- Develop replacement solutions for obsolete or discontinued components.
- Investigate component failures and field incidents using root cause and corrective action methodologies.
- Design tools and components used for field repair, installation, and maintenance.
- Support manufacturing, supply chain, customer service, modernization, assembly, machine shop, and warehouse operations
- Participate in engineering change reviews and product improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical training and support to field mechanics and engineers.
- Help improve engineering processes, documentation, data collection, and overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 4 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing multiple engineering projects and technical priorities.
- Knowledge of mechanical design and drafting practices, including GD&T, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling and CAD software, such as Creo and AutoCAD.
- Experience working within manufacturing environments and collaborating with suppliers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to leverage AI-based tools to improve engineering and day-to-day workflows.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting legacy equipment, component obsolescence, and replacement part development.
- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing technologies.
- Background supporting field service, maintenance, manufacturing, or aftermarket engineering operations.
