Powerhouse Shift Foreman

DSJ Global is partnered with a large-scale integrated paper manufacturing facility who is seeking an experienced Powerhouse Shift Foreman to oversee shift operations within its Power & Recovery functions. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical utility systems while supporting production, environmental compliance, equipment reliability, and employee development.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience within pulp, paper, power generation, recovery, utilities, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hourly employees and team leaders within the Power & Utilities operation.
  • Manage crew scheduling, attendance, employee development, and adherence to workplace policies within a unionized environment.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through training, permitting, coaching, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and adherence to operating standards.
  • Support quality objectives by maintaining process consistency and operational excellence.
  • Drive achievement of production and operational targets through troubleshooting, process optimization, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Improve equipment reliability through effective operator rounds, maintenance coordination, work request management, and outage execution.
  • Facilitate effective communication across shifts through turnover meetings, incident investigations, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Assist in developing both short-term and long-term operational goals for the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, or equivalent operational leadership experience.
  • Experience within a Power & Recovery, Utilities, Pulp & Paper, Energy, Chemical, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of safe operating practices and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance or enterprise management systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in an integrated manufacturing operation.
  • Union leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting maintenance planning and outage execution.
  • Continuous improvement and operational excellence experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and perform duties in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying industrial conditions, including exposure to noise, vibration, heat, humidity, and moving equipment.
