Location: Huntersville, NC (Hybrid, 1 day remote per week)
Compensation: $120,000-$140,000 base + 7% annual bonus
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for a growing manufacturing organization in the Huntersville area. This individual will oversee a team of three direct reports and manage approximately $50M in annual spend across chemicals, raw materials, and related categories.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who can balance strategic sourcing initiatives with day-to-day purchasing execution. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving transformation through improvements in people, processes, and overall procurement performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 3 purchasing professionals.
- Manage sourcing, supplier relationships, negotiations, and procurement activities for chemicals and raw materials.
- Oversee approximately $50M in annual spend while ensuring cost, quality, and service objectives are met.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, visibility, and supply continuity.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that reduce costs and mitigate supply risk.
- Partner closely with Operations, Production, Planning, Quality, and Finance teams.
- Establish KPIs and drive accountability across the purchasing function.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support inventory optimization and working capital improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of purchasing/procurement experience within manufacturing.
- Minimum 7 years of people leadership experience.
- Experience purchasing chemicals, raw materials, or related direct materials.
- Demonstrated success leading transformational change within a procurement organization.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Stable career progression with limited job changes.
