Quality Manager
A rapidly growing confidential food & beverage manufacturer is seeking a Quality Manager to lead site-wide food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position will play a key leadership role in driving continuous improvement, strengthening quality culture, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong SQF, HACCP, and manufacturing quality leadership experience, along with a hands-on approach to developing teams and improving plant performance.
The Responsibilities of the Quality Manager Will Include:
- Lead all site Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, customer, and third-party certification requirements.
- Maintain and continuously improve SQF, HACCP, GMP, allergen control, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Partner with Operations leadership to drive a proactive food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.
- Manage customer audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party certification audits while ensuring audit readiness.
- Lead root cause investigations, non-conformance management, and CAPA activities related to quality and food safety incidents.
- Develop and track key quality metrics, including consumer complaints, internal defects, customer performance, and cost of quality.
- Oversee laboratory testing programs for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Ensure compliance with labeling, specifications, product releases, and documentation control procedures.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor Quality Supervisors, QA Technicians, and Food Safety personnel.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R&D to support process improvements and new product initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement projects focused on product quality, process capability, and waste reduction.
- Manage departmental budgets, training programs, and quality-related capital projects.
The Ideal Quality Manager Will Have the Following Skillset:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive Quality leadership experience within food and/or beverage manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, and preventive controls.
- Experience leading quality teams in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Proven success managing audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections.
- Strong root cause analysis and CAPA experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated track record of driving continuous improvement and building strong food safety cultures.
- PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner, ASQ certifications, or related credentials preferred.
