Senior Director of Engineering
Position Summary
DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry leading nutrition brand who is looking to add on a Senior Director of Engineering to their team in the greater Greensboro area. The Senior Director of Engineering will lead and oversee all engineering functions in support of a large-scale manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for developing both short- and long-term strategies across manufacturing, packaging, process controls, and facilities engineering. The position also includes ownership of organizational design, technology roadmaps, and performance management focused on safety, quality, service, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing engineering operations to drive best-in-class performance through strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external regulatory requirements
- Develop and deliver reporting and data analysis to support performance tracking and strategic decision-making
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, commercial, and product teams to support new and existing product needs
- Contribute to and maintain business continuity plans for manufacturing operations
- Identify and implement innovative technologies, systems, and processes to enhance operational capabilities
- Ensure engineering resources and project execution align with operational and business needs
- Lead capital investment planning and execution for the site
- Support long-term facility and operational planning initiatives
- Oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and initiatives
- Perform additional duties as needed
- Provide leadership and direction to engineering and EHS teams, including full-time staff and external contractors/consultants
- Build, develop, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related field required. Master's degree is considered a plus.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing and engineering leadership roles
- Experience managing engineering operations in a complex manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment and their impact on production
- Experience in regulated industries such as food, dietary supplements, or pharmaceuticals, including familiarity with cGMP requirements
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, process optimization, and equipment performance improvement
- Experience leading facility upgrades and expansion projects
- Proven ability to develop and implement engineering processes, systems, and organizational structures
