2nd shift engineering technician
As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs on electro‑mechanical systems, production equipment, and electrical and pneumatic systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime. You will support and/or lead validation activities, provide training on validated systems, and offer ongoing support for manufacturing operations. This role also involves identifying process improvements, implementing technical enhancements, and providing on‑call support for after‑hours emergencies and alarms.
Job Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs to keep production equipment operating reliably and in compliance with internal quality standards and applicable regulations.
- Develop and implement operating, inspection, and preventive maintenance procedures aligned with regulatory requirements such as GMP, FDA, OSHA, and ISO.
- Schedule and perform maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and production systems according to established specifications.
- Maintain accurate and complete maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor service performed by external vendors to ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Investigate equipment malfunctions to prevent recurrence and update maintenance schedules or system designs as needed.
- Clearly communicate progress on critical repairs.
Equipment Support & Process Optimization
- Assist in identifying specifications, sourcing, installing, and validating new, used, or modified production equipment.
- Recommend capital improvements that enhance quality, reduce costs, or increase equipment reliability.
- Provide engineering recommendations for equipment and process modifications.
- Serve as a liaison with external contractors and vendors.
- Participate in equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and contribute to validation reports.
- Provide troubleshooting support for production equipment and manufacturing processes.
Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
- Complete all required documentation-including maintenance records, work requests, and engineering logs-accurately and in a timely manner.
- Initiate Engineering Change Orders and NCR/Deviation reports as needed.
- Follow compliance procedures and participate in audits, documentation reviews, and regulatory activities involving agencies such as ISO, OSHA, EPA, NRC, and FDA.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous, infectious, or radioactive materials according to established safety protocols.
- Participate in safety training and apply emergency response procedures, chemical labeling guidelines, and MSDS information.
- Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and follow the appropriate safety precautions.
Training & Leadership
- Participate in training programs to support ongoing technical development and workforce skill enhancement.
- Train and mentor Engineering Technicians.
- Support senior engineering leadership in setting priorities and assigning tasks.
- Provide after‑hours support for equipment‑related events or emergencies.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a 2‑year vocational/technical program in electrical, electronic, or electro‑mechanical technologies required.
- 10+ years of hands‑on production equipment maintenance experience.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, machining, and electro‑mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of basic PLC operations and equipment control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to isolate key variables and diagnose issues effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Google Suite.
- Ability to prepare capital expenditure justifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong multitasking skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations preferred.
