Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, upkeep, and repair of facility equipment including air compressors, electrical systems, dust collection systems, and HVAC units. This role also supports the maintenance and proper functioning of production machinery, including automated controls, mechanical components, and electrical systems. Welding and fabrication skills are required. The Maintenance Technician must report any food safety or quality concerns to a supervisor or upper management and has the authority to initiate appropriate corrective actions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute control strategies as directed by management.
  • Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and routine operation of all facility equipment.
  • Conduct maintenance, repair, and optimization of production machinery.
  • Install new equipment and systems as needed.
  • Document new equipment installations performed by the Technician.
  • Maintain documentation for existing systems as required.
  • Perform HVAC-related repairs and maintenance.
  • Conduct general building maintenance, including framing, drywall repair, and painting.
  • Complete tasks involving soldering, landscaping, and other facility-related duties.
  • Operate a forklift (preferred but not required).
  • Remain available for on-call support 24/7.
  • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC).

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Millwright, or related trade.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training may substitute for experience requirements.
  • Strong background in automated control systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, installation, troubleshooting, and operation.
  • Proficiency using PCs and related software for job tasks and project documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of relay ladder logic and ability to program PLCs.

Skills & Additional Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • College-level coursework relevant to the position is a plus.
  • Programming experience (e.g., Visual Basic) is beneficial.
  • Associate degree in Electronics preferred.
