Purpose of the Role
The Regional Sales Director is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth across an assigned region within the retail sales channel, with a strong focus on hard‑surface flooring wholesale (vinyl, hardwood, laminate, bamboo). This leader manages and develops a team of Territory Sales Managers while strengthening key retail, distributor, and wholesale relationships. The role blends strategic planning with hands‑on field execution to expand product penetration and deliver consistent regional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Territory Sales Managers to exceed regional revenue, distribution, and profitability targets
- Set performance expectations, KPIs, and provide ongoing coaching and development
- Conduct regular field rides and joint customer visits to elevate sales execution and product knowledge
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with corporate goals and retail priorities
- Drive initiatives related to product launches, promotions, merchandising, pricing, and inventory optimization
- Identify whitespace opportunities and expand retail coverage and share of wallet
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with retailers, distributors, and wholesale partners
- Serve as the escalation point for complex customer issues and partner on long-term growth plans
- Analyze regional performance, market trends, and competition; report KPIs and insights to leadership
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams across Sales, Marketing, Product, Quality, Operations, Finance, etc.
- Provide market feedback to guide product development, pricing, and go‑to‑market strategies
- Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset-balancing structure, agility, and execution focus
Travel Requirements
- Extensive regional travel (approximately 3 weeks per month)
- Field travel with Territory Sales Managers to develop accounts and drive growth
- Attendance at customer meetings, trade shows, leadership sessions, and internal planning meetings
- Occasional national and international travel
Qualifications
- 10+ years of outside sales experience, including 4-6+ years in sales management
- Background in hard‑surface flooring, building materials, or wholesale distribution strongly preferred
- Proven success leading sales teams to achieve revenue and margin targets
- Strong coaching, communication, and relationship‑building skills
- Analytical thinker with strong organizational and execution discipline
- Ability to travel extensively and lift up to 50 lbs of product samples
