Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager
A major player in the food manufacturing industry is looking to bring on a Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager to one of their facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. The primary role of this individual will be to ensure that production resources align with safety, quality, cost, and delivery standards across a three-shift operation.
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (on-site)
Compensation: $135,000-180,000
The Senior Operations Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Safety and Quality Leadership: Foster a safe working environment, enforce safety regulations, maintain HACCP and quality programs, and ensure sanitation and housekeeping standards.
- Operational Efficiency: Manage labor and material variances, drive improvements in line efficiencies, and control production department budgets.
- Team Development and Communication: Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors, motivate employees, and communicate effectively across departments.
- Continuous Improvement and Collaboration: Drive continuous improvement projects, support new processes and machinery installations, and collaborate with various departments for operational enhancements.
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Participate in long-term capital planning, manage material flow, and provide support to other areas of the supply chain.
The Senior Operations Manager will have the following skill set:
- Prefer a degree in engineering, food science, or related fields; alternatively, at least 8 years of related experience.
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or Lean experience preferred; must have a continuous improvement mindset and interest in learning the methodology.
- Required: food manufacturing experience, FDA and GMP knowledge.
- Awareness of food quality standards.
- Strong leadership qualities; ability to influence without authority and experience in changing mindsets.
- Good understanding of organizational dynamics and the impact of production decisions on other departments (e.g., supply chain, quality, co-manufacturing)
