Director of Fleet Engineering
A well-established maritime services provider is seeking a Director of Fleet Engineering to lead the technical operations of a diverse fleet operating across multiple ports. Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day and preventive maintenance programs for vessels, propulsion systems, and onboard equipment.
- Respond to mechanical issues or emergencies, providing expert troubleshooting and engineering solutions.
- Coordinate shore side engineering teams, contractors, and vessel crews to ensure timely, effective repairs.
- Ensure all engineering operations meet or exceed regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
- Support incident investigations, reporting, and root-cause analyses.
- Lead engineering projects including modernization, emissions reduction, efficiency initiatives, and re-powering plans.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with shipyards, manufacturers, and service providers.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineering personnel.
- Lead training initiatives for engineers, technicians, and vessel crew members.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in marine engineering, fleet management or supervisory role.
- Strong technical mastery of marine machinery, vessel systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and drive operational excellence.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment under pressure.
