Site Engineering Technical Lead
The Site Technical Lead is accountable for setting the technical vision, managing engineering functions, and driving process improvement efforts at the plant level. This position blends strategic leadership with advanced technical knowledge to promote high engineering standards, improve operational performance, and foster ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Working in close collaboration with Operations, the Site Technical Lead helps achieve production objectives while strengthening the organization's overall technical capabilities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement the site's technical roadmap in alignment with both local and corporate goals.
- Offer hands-on technical guidance to address complex engineering and operational issues.
- Lead initiatives that improve safety, product quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Direct the design, optimization, and deployment of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Establish and uphold engineering standards, procedures, and proper documentation practices.
- Work closely with Operations leadership to ensure engineering priorities support production objectives.
- Contribute to capital projects by supporting planning, budget management, execution, and validation activities.
- Oversee root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions for major or recurring problems.
- Promote a culture focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
- Coach and develop engineering team members while supporting performance management and succession planning.
- Maintain strong knowledge of site processes, systems, and manufacturing technologies.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, materials, and methods to enhance site performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and R&D, as well as other sites, to share best practices and drive consistency.
Ideal Skillset:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related discipline required); advanced degree is a plus.
- Typically 8-12+ years of engineering experience, including time in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Background working within a manufacturing setting, ideally in high-throughput or large-scale operations.
- Strong technical foundation in mechanical systems, process design, and manufacturing equipment.
- Experience managing engineering initiatives or leading teams across multiple functions.
- Ability to operate at both a strategic level and in a hands-on, execution-focused environment.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
- Prior experience in roles such as Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, or comparable leadership positions.
- Exposure to capital project execution, including equipment installation and commissioning.
- Understanding of reliability principles, maintenance planning, and process optimization techniques.
- Experience within batch chemical manufacturing is preferred.
- Comfortable working within multi-site or matrixed organizational structures.
