As the organization expands, they are seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee restaurant maintenance, repair programs, capital improvement projects, and vendor relationships across their multi-unit portfolio.
Position Overview
The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and operational integrity of 30+ restaurant locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between restaurant operations, landlords, vendors, contractors, and third-party service providers to ensure facilities remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Reporting to senior field operations leadership, this role combines strategic planning, budget management, vendor oversight, and hands-on field support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and experienced in managing facilities for a multi-site restaurant or retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
- Manage all repair and maintenance activities across a portfolio of 30+ restaurant locations.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reduce long-term repair costs.
- Prioritize and resolve critical facility issues while ensuring timely communication with field teams.
- Monitor work orders, service requests, and vendor performance through facilities management software.
- Conduct regular site visits and facility audits to assess asset condition and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support emergency maintenance situations and provide after-hours support when necessary.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, contractors, landlords, inspection agencies, and property management groups.
- Negotiate and manage maintenance agreements, service contracts, and vendor partnerships.
- Ensure all service providers meet quality, cost, and response-time expectations.
- Validate completed work and escalate service concerns when necessary.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and manage annual repair and maintenance budgets.
- Monitor spending and identify opportunities to reduce recurring repair costs.
- Prepare reports, forecasts, and budget analyses for leadership.
- Drive cost-effective solutions while maintaining operational and safety standards.
Restaurant Openings & Capital Projects
- Support new restaurant openings by coordinating facility services, inspections, and operational readiness.
- Lead or support restaurant renovation projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
- Manage project timelines, vendor coordination, and budget compliance for capital improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Operational Support
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, fire, and building regulations.
- Maintain standards related to commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration systems, and restaurant infrastructure.
- Train and support restaurant leaders on maintenance processes, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance practices, and budget stewardship.
- Partner closely with operations teams to address facility-related challenges and support restaurant performance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of facilities management, maintenance operations, or related experience.
- Multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, retail, or foodservice facilities experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, general construction, maintenance services, and associated costs.
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, service agreements, and facility projects.
- Proven ability to develop, manage, and track operating budgets.
- Experience utilizing facilities management software platforms.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel regularly between restaurant locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
