Maintenance Superintendent

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the maintenance department to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all equipment and infrastructure within a pulp and paper manufacturing facility. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, manages skilled trades personnel, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and contractor relationships.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to support production goals.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures.
  • Mentor and develop maintenance staff to build technical capabilities and leadership skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of maintenance leadership experience in pulp and paper or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, and CMMS platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
