Our client is a well-established, mid-sized European freight forwarder with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality logistics solutions across air, ocean, and road freight. With a growing international network and a focus on customer-centric service, the company is entering a new phase of expansion and is seeking a dynamic Managing Director to lead its operations in France or the Iberian region.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact leadership role offering full P&L responsibility for a key regional business. You will drive strategic growth, enhance operational performance, and strengthen the company's market presence across France or Iberia.
The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with operational expertise in freight forwarding, and a proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the regional growth strategy aligned with the Group's objectives
- Identify new market opportunities across air, ocean, and road freight
- Expand customer portfolio and strengthen strategic partnerships
Commercial Development
- Drive revenue growth and profitability across all product lines
- Lead major client engagements and key account strategies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and partners
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring service quality and efficiency
- Optimise processes, cost structures, and performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse regional team
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture
- Drive talent development and succession planning
Financial Management
- Full P&L accountability for the region
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring
- Implement initiatives to improve margins and operational efficiency
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong expertise across air, ocean, and/or road freight services
- Demonstrated success in driving commercial growth and managing P&L
- Deep knowledge of the France and/or Iberian logistics markets
- Strong network within the industry (customers, carriers, partners)
- Inspirational leader with excellent people management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a mid-sized, agile environment
- Fluent in English and French or Spanish/Portuguese
