Manufacturing MNC - HR & Office Manager, Japan Tokyo Base

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee documentation.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities with hiring managers and external recruitment partners.
  • Support compensation and benefits administration, payroll coordination, and annual salary review processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Maintain employee records and HR databases.
  • Handle employee inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and company culture activities.
  • Assist with performance management and employee development programs.
  • Liaise with external vendors, including payroll providers, benefits brokers, and legal advisors.

Office Management & Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations and ensure a well-functioning workplace environment.
  • Manage office facilities, supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and company events.
  • Support budgeting and expense tracking for office-related expenditures.
  • Manage office contracts, renewals, and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workplace requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for visitors, landlords, and external service providers.

General Support

  • Work closely with regional teams to ensure alignment with global policies and processes.
  • Support ad hoc projects and administrative initiatives as required.
  • Provide operational support to local leadership and employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of HR Generalist, HR Manager, Office Manager, or related experience.
  • Good understanding of Japan labor law and HR practices.
  • Experience supporting a small office or country organization is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in Japanese and business-level English.
