Position Summary
Our Client is seeking a Manufacturing Plant Maintenance Engineer to support maintenance reliability, asset performance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, supporting capital projects, improving equipment reliability, managing maintenance systems, and leading technical problem-solving efforts. The successful candidate will help drive improvements in safety, quality, uptime, and operational efficiency while providing leadership and technical guidance to maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance activities across manufacturing operations and facility infrastructure to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
- Develop and execute maintenance plans for major equipment repairs, plant shutdowns, and overhaul activities.
- Coordinate with maintenance planning, scheduling, purchasing, and inventory teams to ensure efficient execution of maintenance work.
- Evaluate and enhance preventive maintenance programs by identifying gaps, prioritizing opportunities, and implementing improvements.
- Manage maintenance activities through the facility's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work orders, asset history, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assess maintenance strategies for critical equipment and recommend improvements based on performance data, risk assessment, and return on investment.
- Utilize engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and facility layouts to support maintenance and reliability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation for equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Assist with development, tracking, and management of maintenance budgets and expenditures.
- Lead small capital improvement projects from planning through implementation, ensuring measurable operational benefits.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for equipment, process, and maintenance-related issues.
- Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components while minimizing obsolete stock.
- Lead inventory optimization initiatives within the maintenance storeroom.
- Facilitate root cause investigations for equipment failures and reliability concerns, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
- Analyze downtime, maintenance, and reliability data to identify trends and prioritize improvement opportunities.
- Drive reliability improvements across production lines through structured continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving projects utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, or similar methodologies.
- Monitor maintenance performance metrics and develop action plans to improve key performance indicators.
- Support and manage predictive maintenance technologies and programs, measuring effectiveness and business impact.
- Participate in operational audits and assessments while driving ongoing improvements to maintenance systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain training programs that strengthen technical capabilities and maintenance effectiveness.
- Foster a safety-focused, collaborative culture that promotes accountability and operational excellence.
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance team members while conducting performance evaluations and providing regular feedback.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant operations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent manufacturing maintenance experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing direct reports.
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, or related manufacturing experience.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and cross-functional improvement efforts.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience supporting maintenance and reliability activities within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including project management and process documentation tools.
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Strong understanding of CMMS platforms, including planning, scheduling, work order management, inventory control, and purchasing functions.
- Ability to interpret and modify engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, and facility layouts.
- Experience leading continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, or related methodologies.
Preferred
- Five or more years of maintenance, reliability, or engineering experience within food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, or related manufacturing industries.
- Experience implementing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Prior experience supervising maintenance operations in a manufacturing facility.
- Background in maintenance planning, scheduling, or asset management.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or other engineering design software.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a record of improving equipment reliability and operational performance.
