Technical Superintendent - Reliability & Integrity
Location: Southeastern United States
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

A leading global chemical manufacturer is seeking a Technical Superintendent - Reliability & Integrity to lead site reliability strategy and oversee a team of reliability engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and inspection professionals at a large-scale manufacturing operation.

This individual will play a critical role in improving asset reliability, ensuring mechanical integrity compliance, supporting capital investments, and developing long-term strategies to maximize equipment performance and operational reliability. The position will partner closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Inspection, and Leadership teams to ensure critical assets remain safe, reliable, and fit for service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide reliability and asset improvement strategies across manufacturing operations.
  • Manage and develop Reliability Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Inspection personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.
  • Ensure fixed equipment and infrastructure remain fit for service in accordance with PSM requirements, engineering standards, industry codes, and regulatory expectations.
  • Prioritize and execute reliability improvement projects through data analysis, risk assessment, and cost-benefit evaluations.
  • Maintain ownership of the site's critical equipment registry and asset integrity programs.
  • Support mechanical and instrumentation/electrical engineering improvements across the facility.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecast capital needs, and help secure funding for reliability and asset improvement projects.
  • Lead equipment failure investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve long-term asset performance and reduce risk.
  • Support compliance, inspection, and integrity management programs throughout the site.
  • Develop succession plans, training programs, and career growth opportunities for technical team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience within petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, refining, polymers, or other heavy process manufacturing environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, reliability, maintenance, or inspection teams.
  • Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and mechanical integrity programs.
  • Experience leading reliability improvement initiatives for fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management, inspection programs, and equipment lifecycle strategies.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting P&IDs, process flow diagrams, engineering drawings, and control schematics.
  • Proven project management experience, including capital planning, project prioritization, and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a strong compliance culture while driving operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
