Project Director, Global Capital Projects
Key Responsibilities
End‑to‑End Project Leadership
- Lead full lifecycle management of large‑scale industrial capital projects-from final investment decision to commissioning and operational handover.
- Serve as the single point of accountability for cost, schedule, scope, and quality across all project phases.
- Drive delivery of major steel manufacturing, processing, and related industrial infrastructure assets.
Strategic Execution & Technical Governance
- Develop comprehensive execution strategies covering contracting models, procurement approaches, construction logistics, and risk frameworks.
- Oversee project planning, design development, engineering validation, and construction readiness.
- Ensure robust project controls, including cost forecasting, schedule tracking, progress measurement, and risk mitigation.
Stakeholder & Interface Management
- Act as the principal interface for internal leadership teams, international partners, EPC firms, suppliers, joint‑venture stakeholders, and local government bodies.
- Manage cross‑regional communication and alignment to ensure transparency, engagement, and smooth decision‑making.
- Build trusted relationships in complex multicultural environments.
Financial Stewardship & Governance
- Own and manage multi‑million to multi‑billion‑dollar capital budgets with rigorous cost control practices.
- Ensure financial discipline, investment protection, commercial compliance, and strong governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Safety, Sustainability & Compliance
- Champion a world‑class safety culture, driving "zero harm" performance across construction and commissioning.
- Ensure adherence to global sustainability standards and long-term environmental goals.
- Guarantee compliance with local and international regulations, industrial standards, and quality frameworks.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Recruit, mentor, and lead multidisciplinary and multinational project teams operating in challenging environments.
- Embed high-performance behaviors, clear accountability, and technical excellence across engineering, construction, and project controls teams.
- Encourage knowledge transfer and continuous improvement across global project networks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience serving as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager for large-scale industrial projects.
- Direct background in heavy industry such as steel, metals, iron, aluminium or large energy/power projects is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading international or cross-border projects with multicultural teams.
- Strong command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Ability and willingness to commit to long-term on‑site project assignments globally, depending on project requirements.
