Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Supply Planner to join a growing chemical manufacturing organization serving the packaging industry. This role will be responsible for developing and executing supply plans that optimize inventory, production capacity, and customer service levels across a portfolio of packaging-related products and raw materials.
The Senior Supply Planner will serve as a critical link between Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Commercial teams to ensure product availability while balancing working capital objectives and operational constraints. The ideal candidate will have experience in chemical manufacturing and a strong understanding of supply planning within packaging, resins, films, adhesives, coatings, flexible packaging, specialty materials, or related markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short- and long-range supply plans for packaging-related product lines.
- Balance customer demand, production capacity, inventory targets, and raw material availability.
- Partner with Manufacturing to optimize production schedules and maximize plant utilization.
- Manage inventory levels of finished goods, intermediates, and raw materials to support customer requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Lead supply planning activities as part of the monthly S&OP / Integrated Business Planning process.
- Identify capacity constraints and develop mitigation strategies to support business growth and customer commitments.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement on critical raw materials, packaging inputs, and supplier performance.
- Monitor inventory health, service levels, production attainment, and forecast alignment across the supply network.
- Support new product introductions, packaging innovation initiatives, and product lifecycle transitions.
- Conduct scenario planning and risk assessments related to supply disruptions, customer demand swings, and production changes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, inventory optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain planning parameters including safety stock levels, lead times, reorder strategies, and inventory policies.
- Provide regular KPI reporting and actionable recommendations to Supply Chain leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of supply planning experience within chemical, packaging, plastics, resins, adhesives, coatings, films, or related manufacturing environments.
- Strong background in inventory management, production planning, capacity planning, and supply planning.
- Experience supporting process or batch manufacturing operations.
- Experience participating in S&OP / IBP processes.
- Advanced ERP experience (SAP preferred).
- Strong proficiency with Excel and supply chain analytics.
- Proven ability to manage complex product portfolios and large SKU counts.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting packaging products, flexible packaging materials, specialty films, coatings, adhesives, polymers, or packaging resins.
- APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
- SAP IBP, SAP APO, Kinaxis RapidResponse, Blue Yonder, or other advanced planning system experience.
- Power BI or Tableau experience.
- Multi-site manufacturing experience.
