Distribution Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Distribution Manager to oversee all operations within a high-volume distribution center. This role will be responsible for leading a large workforce, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring best-in-class service, safety, and cost performance.

The ideal candidate will be a self-sufficient leader with a proven track record managing large teams in complex distribution environments and experience reporting into senior/executive leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across warehousing, distribution, shipping, receiving, and inventory management
  • Direct and develop a team of 30-40+ direct and indirect reports, including supervisors and front-line associates
  • Drive operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity metrics
  • Ensure efficient workflow across a high-volume distribution center environment, maintaining service levels and on-time delivery
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (supply chain, production, procurement, and transportation) to optimize end-to-end operations
  • Analyze KPIs and operational data to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement scalable solutions
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Manage labor planning, staffing, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Develop and mentor leadership beneath you, building a strong succession pipeline
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and effectively report into Director/VP-level stakeholders on performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of leadership experience within distribution, logistics, or warehouse operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams (30+ employees) in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven background working within large-scale distribution centers (high-volume, complex operations preferred)
  • Experience reporting into Director or VP-level leadership
  • Strong track record of being a self-sufficient, autonomous leader capable of operating with limited oversight
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives (lean, process optimization, KPI-driven environments)
  • Strong understanding of distribution systems, WMS, and supply chain processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field
  • Experience in 24/7 or multi-shift operations
  • Background in consumer goods, food & beverage, or high-volume manufacturing distribution environments
  • Lean / Six Sigma exposure or certification
