Maintenance Superintendent
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance team to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant equipment and infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, optimizing asset performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, planners, and contractors.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure timely and effective response to equipment failures and breakdowns.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to schedule maintenance activities with minimal production disruption.
Asset Management
- Maintain and improve reliability of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement in coordination with supply chain.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses related to equipment failures.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and work order completion rates.
Project Support
- Support capital projects and plant upgrades by providing technical input and coordinating maintenance resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 7+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in chemical or process manufacturing.
- 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA), and lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing training
