Extrusion Process Engineer
DSJ Global has partnered with a Leading Cable Manufacturer looking to bring in a qualified Process Engineer with a background in cable/wire extrusion to help bring their insulation wire to production. The right candidate will bring a background in Process Engineering in wire/cable extrusion, knowledge of various safety and material regulation/standards, and background in material science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments and promote a zero-injury culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, UL, IEC, and ASTM standards.
- Design and troubleshoot insulation systems using thermal/electrical analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technicians to implement solutions.
- Perform inspections to verify insulation reliability and mechanical properties.
- Oversee and optimize extrusion equipment setup and operation.
- Recommend tooling upgrades and support new facility commissioning.
- Document best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Train production staff and provide technical support.
- Apply 5 Whys methodology to resolve process issues and prevent recurrence.
- Assist with certifications, preventative maintenance, and tooling management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in wire/cable manufacturing or similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of insulation materials, dielectric properties, and thermal management.
- Familiarity with high-voltage systems and electrical safety standards.
- Proficiency in engineering software; CAD experience (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) preferred.
- Ability to design tools, read blueprints, and analyze complex data.
- Understanding of ISO-9000 quality principles and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Willingness to work off-hours and pass an e-Verify background check.
