OT Engineer

Location: Gelderland, Netherlands
Working Model: Primarily on-site (5 days per week) with 1 day remote working flexibility
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

About the Role:

An international manufacturing organisation is seeking an OT Engineer to support and further develop its Operational Technology (OT) environment at its production site in the Netherlands.

This role sits at the intersection of factory automation, IT systems, and production operations, ensuring that machines, control systems, and connected IT infrastructure operate reliably, securely, and efficiently. It is a long-term position with a strong focus on stability, continuous improvement, and future‑oriented projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of Operational Technology systems at the manufacturing site
  • Ensure stable integration between factory machines, automation systems, servers, and IT environments
  • Support and maintain systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, industrial networks, and servers
  • Manage and document software changes and system modifications (change management)
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to minimise production downtime
  • Support the cybersecurity and compliance of OT systems
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, and Quality
  • Work closely with global OT teams and remote support teams
  • Contribute to automation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement projects
  • Support and train operational teams where required

Candidate Profile:

The company is open to candidates from multiple technical backgrounds, including:

  • OT Engineers
  • Automation / Control Engineers or Technicians
  • IT Engineers looking to transition into OT

An IT‑oriented background with an interest in operational technology is considered a strong fit, as internal support and development are available.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to OT, automation, or IT systems

Knowledge of technologies such as:

  • PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES
  • Industrial networks
  • Windows-based systems and servers
  • Understanding of IT/OT integration
  • Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity is a plus
  • Experience with vendors such as ABB is advantageous
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Fluent Dutch (required)
