Lead Buyer Logistics (M/F/D)
We are seeking an experienced Lead Buyer - Logistics to join our client's procurement team in Bonn. This role is pivotal in managing and optimising logistics procurement activities across Europe for a leading chemical manufacturer. The successful candidate will drive cost efficiency, ensure compliance, and foster strategic supplier relationships to support the company's global supply chain objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for logistics services (transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, etc.) aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the logistics sector.
Supplier Management:
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with logistics providers to ensure competitive pricing and high service quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
Cost Optimisation & Compliance:
- Drive cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless logistics processes.
- Support global and regional projects related to transportation and distribution.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks in logistics procurement, including sustainability and geopolitical considerations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of procurement experience, with a focus on logistics within a manufacturing or chemical industry environment.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of logistics markets and cost drivers.
- Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Fluent in English; German language skills are highly desirable.
