Sanitation Manager
A leading snack food company is seeking a Sanitation Manager to join its plant leadership team in the greater St. Louis metro area. This is a unique opportunity to work in a setting where there are lots of areas for suggesting, implementing, and driving improvements. This role is critical to ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for continuous improvement in sanitation practices.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Own and manage the site's sanitation program, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
- Develop and maintain sanitation procedures, chemical management protocols, and cleaning tasks documentation.
- Lead sanitation validation, risk assessments, and allergen clean validations.
- Train sanitation and operations personnel on procedures, chemical handling, and safety.
- Maintain and optimize the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Monitor and report sanitation KPIs to stakeholders.
- Manage departmental inventory, supplies, and procurement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and coaching for sanitation team members.
- Support special projects and cleaning events, including investigations and incident response.
- Stay current with industry best practices and sanitation technologies.
- Promote a culture of sanitation excellence across all levels of the organization.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in managing sanitation programs (food & beverage manufacturing experience required)
- Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, equipment, sanitation systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Expertise in sanitary design, allergen control, chemical cleaning, and validation protocols.
- Familiarity with SDS, PPE, and safety programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across teams.
- Understanding of FDA, SQF, and AIB food safety standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shifts as needed.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive continuous improvement, and foster a collaborative work environment.
