Advanced Quality Engineer
The Staff Manufacturing Quality Engineer is a recognized expert in manufacturing quality who drives strategic quality initiatives across the organization. This role focuses on resolving complex manufacturing challenges, implementing best practices, mentoring other quality engineers, and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve high levels of quality performance.
The Quality Assurance organization supports internal partners-including operations, engineering, and leadership-through quality planning, inspection, audits, quality data analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective quality communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Quality Leadership: Lead organization-wide initiatives to improve manufacturing quality processes with measurable impact on key operational quality KPIs.
- Complex Problem Solving: Identify root causes of complex manufacturing quality issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Customer Escape Management: Lead customer escape containment and resolution efforts, collaborating with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to minimize recurrence and improve customer satisfaction.
- Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ): Identify and reduce COPQ through stop-ship and production stop coordination, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term process improvements.
- Documentation & Print Review: Conduct detailed reviews of prints, GD&T, and acceptance criteria; manage deviations and dispositions to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Advanced Quality Tools: Deploy advanced quality methodologies and analytical tools; support operations leadership in adopting and sustaining new practices.
- Project Leadership: Manage large-scale, cross-functional quality improvement projects spanning multiple departments.
- Operational Quality Support: Partner closely with manufacturing and operations teams to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Metrics & Data Utilization: Analyze quality metrics and feedback to identify opportunities for design, process, and system-level improvements.
- Mentorship & Development: Coach, mentor, and delegate work to quality engineers, supporting professional growth and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Industry Awareness: Monitor evolving industry trends, standards, and technologies, integrating relevant advancements into quality practices.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, procedures, and quality system requirements.

Required Qualifications
- 7-10 years of progressive manufacturing quality engineering experience, preferably within the electrical or a related industrial manufacturing sector
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Experience supporting nonconforming material, RMAs, and reject/NMR processes
- Strong background in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001)
- Demonstrated success leading large, complex quality improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of quality analytics, tools, and metrics (Six Sigma experience preferred)
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead teams through ambiguity and changing priorities
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to collaborate, influence, and build trust across diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel and Power BI
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification
- Fabrication or welding quality experience
Work Environment & Physical Conditions
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments
- Occasional exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial materials
- Infrequent exposure to energized equipment, environmental extremes, or manufacturing hazards
- Use of appropriate safety practices and personal protective equipment as required
