Business Development Manager - Air Freight
The successful applicant will be involved with:
- Relationship building and management: building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients within a designated territory. Becoming a trusted advisor, staying informed about clients' needs and offering tailored support and advice.
- New business development: identifying and reaching out to potential clients, including cold calling and attending networking events. Qualifying leads by assessing needs and determining if the company's offerings are a good fit.
- Sales meetings and presentations: conducting face-to-face meetings with clients at their locations to present products or services, demonstrating their value proposition, and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Negotiation and closing: guiding clients through the sales process, including negotiating contracts and terms to close deals effectively.
- Achieving sales targets: meeting or exceeding assigned sales quotas and contributing to the overall company revenue goals.
- Post-sale support: providing ongoing support and resolving customer inquiries and issues promptly to build long-term relationships and foster customer loyalty.
- Market research and analysis: monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies and identify growth opportunities.
- Record keeping: maintaining accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline updates within our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Travel and territory management: traveling regularly within the assigned territory to meet clients and attend industry events like trade shows and conferences.
The successful applicant will have/be:
- 5 years of hands-on sales experience in freight forwarding, including project cargo and large-volume handling.
- Strong understanding of global freight forwarding operations, documentation, and Incoterms.
- Familiarity with customs procedures, compliance standards, and country-specific regulations.
- Proficient in logistics software such as Magaya, Cargo Wise, SAP TM, or similar platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a high-stakes environment.
