Control Systems Engineer - Food Manufacturing Automation

Location: Yakima, WA

Salary Range: $112,00- $120,000

A leading producer in the food manufacturing industry, is hiring a Control Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support advanced automation and control systems across its production facilities. This role focuses on scalable MES solutions, cross-plant standardization, and long-term automation strategy. The engineer will lead system design, programming, installation, and troubleshooting, while supporting training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and install complex process control systems including PID, cascade, and feed-forward configurations

* Develop and maintain SCADA, MES, and alarm notification systems using platforms like Ignition

* Lead capital projects and plant expansions, including scope development and contractor coordination

* Analyze and optimize existing control systems; mentor plant technicians and support retraining

* Commission process equipment and ensure compliance with design and operational expectations

* Design and document facility power systems and low-voltage wiring

* Create interface control documents (ICDs) and manage industrial network configurations

Skills & Qualifications

* Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming, SCADA platforms, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office

* Strong understanding of NFPA 70/70E, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems

* Experience with food processing systems including thermal, CIP, and packaging

* Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred

* Minimum 7-10 years of experience, or 15+ years in control systems engineering or integration

* ISA Certified Automation Professional or Certified Control Systems Technician highly desirable
