Corporate Safety Manager
Position Summary:
The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across all chemical manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will lead initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture, reduce risk, and ensure the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute corporate safety strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements specific to chemical manufacturing.
Program Development & Compliance:
- Design and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; implement corrective actions.
Training & Engagement:
- Deliver and oversee safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote a culture of safety through communication, recognition, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee chemical hazard communication programs, including SDS management and labeling.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of safety metrics, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior leadership.
Collaboration:
- Partner with plant managers, HR, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate safety into all operations.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections or audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive safety experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple manufacturing sites as needed.
