About the Job

A leading food packaging company is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead EHS programs within a chemical and process‑driven manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting employee health and safety, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a 24/7 production operation.

The EHS Manager will serve as the site subject‑matter expert for environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, and safety, partnering closely with plant leadership to drive a strong, sustainable safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety programs within a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance programs in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
  • Provide technical EHS support related to chemical hazards, exposure controls, and process safety risks.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing and production areas.
  • Manage industrial hygiene programs including hazard communication, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and medical surveillance.
  • Oversee environmental reporting, permitting, training, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Certify new and modified manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with safety and industrial hygiene standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, and first‑aid documentation.
  • Administer workers' compensation programs and manage claims with external vendors.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Partner with operations and site leadership to support production goals while reinforcing a behavior‑based safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4-7 years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct exposure to chemical processes or regulated materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, industrial hygiene principles, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting EHS programs in process manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or continuous‑operation facilities strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead training, audits, investigations, and cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in multi‑shift or 24/7 operations.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable conducting inspections throughout production areas.
  • Flexible schedule to support operational and regulatory needs.
