A leading Pulp and Paper Manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, improving asset reliability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across a 24/7 production operation.
The Maintenance Manager will serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and production teams to develop proactive maintenance strategies, optimize equipment performance, and support overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all maintenance and reliability activities within a manufacturing facility.
- Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
- Manage and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, planners, technicians, and contractors.
- Drive reliability improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, increasing asset performance, and extending equipment life.
- Partner with operations leadership to prioritize maintenance activities while supporting production goals and customer commitments.
- Establish and monitor key maintenance performance indicators, including downtime, PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance costs.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair activities for production equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Manage maintenance planning and scheduling processes to ensure efficient use of labor, materials, and resources.
- Lead root cause failure analyses and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
- Ensure maintenance operations comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, TPM, CMMS, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
- Oversee maintenance inventory management, spare parts strategies, and vendor relationships.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
- 5-10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Experience leading maintenance teams in food & beverage, packaging, paper & packaging, consumer products, chemicals, or other process manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, and maintenance personnel.
- Experience utilizing CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Oracle, MaintainX, or similar systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with experience leading root cause analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to drive equipment reliability improvements and reduce manufacturing downtime.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting multi-shift or 24/7 manufacturing operations.
Work Requirements
- Availability to support maintenance emergencies, equipment failures, and operational needs outside of normal working hours when necessary.
- Flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
