Manager, Process Controls and Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

An established industrial manufacturing facility is seeking a Manager of Process Control and Electrical Engineering to lead technical efforts supporting production, maintenance, and capital projects in a complex operating environment.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management and project accountability. You will oversee a small engineering team and provide site leadership for process control systems, plant electrical infrastructure, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process control and electrical engineers
  • Set priorities, provide technical direction, and ensure effective execution of engineering work
  • Coordinate internal resources and external contractors to deliver engineering solutions
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence
  • Provide technical leadership for process automation, control systems, and plant electrical distribution
  • Support production operations through advanced troubleshooting of control and electrical issues
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety codes, engineering standards, and plant policies
  • Lead and support capital projects related to automation, electrical systems, and process improvements
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and project plans
  • Manage project execution to meet functional, budgetary, and schedule expectations
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, reliability, and other engineering disciplines
  • Support long-range planning for infrastructure upgrades and modernization efforts
  • Act as a technical resource for complex process, automation, and electrical challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, process control, and/or electrical engineering roles
  • Prior experience leading engineers or technical teams in a plant-based environment
  • Strong background in:
    • Industrial control systems (PLC, HMI, DCS or equivalent platforms)
    • Electrical power distribution and motor control
    • Industrial automation and instrumentation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in chemical, materials, or energy-intensive manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to legacy system modernization and automation standardization
  • Experience managing contractors and system integrators
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety programs and regulatory requirements
