Manufacturing Supervisor
Summary
A leading aerospace & defense precision manufacturer is seeking a hands‑on Machine Shop Supervisor to drive daily CNC and manual machining operations. This role ensures AS9100‑level quality, on‑time delivery, and high performance across a fast‑paced, tight‑tolerance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations across CNC milling, CNC turning, grinding, honing, and manual machining
- Manage production schedules to meet aerospace program deadlines and quality standards
- Oversee CNC setups, tooling, workholding, offsets, and minor program adjustments
- Enforce all safety protocols and maintain a strong safety culture
- Perform and supervise precision inspections using metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues to reduce downtime
- Drive Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate records for production metrics, tooling inventory, and maintenance
- Train and mentor machinists in advanced machining techniques and GD&T
- Partner with engineering and quality teams on prototype builds, DFM/DFA, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Experience supervising teams in precision machining or CNC-driven manufacturing
- Strong understanding of CNC and manual machines, tooling, and machining processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace work instructions
- Familiarity with inspection tools, SPC, and shop‑floor quality practices
- Ability to identify and resolve machining and equipment issues
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or CI methods
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and obtain required government authorizations
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or regulated manufacturing
- Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 environments
- Lean Six Sigma training or certification
