Summary

A leading aerospace & defense precision manufacturer is seeking a hands‑on Machine Shop Supervisor to drive daily CNC and manual machining operations. This role ensures AS9100‑level quality, on‑time delivery, and high performance across a fast‑paced, tight‑tolerance environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across CNC milling, CNC turning, grinding, honing, and manual machining
  • Manage production schedules to meet aerospace program deadlines and quality standards
  • Oversee CNC setups, tooling, workholding, offsets, and minor program adjustments
  • Enforce all safety protocols and maintain a strong safety culture
  • Perform and supervise precision inspections using metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues to reduce downtime
  • Drive Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records for production metrics, tooling inventory, and maintenance
  • Train and mentor machinists in advanced machining techniques and GD&T
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams on prototype builds, DFM/DFA, and process improvements

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising teams in precision machining or CNC-driven manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of CNC and manual machines, tooling, and machining processes
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace work instructions
  • Familiarity with inspection tools, SPC, and shop‑floor quality practices
  • Ability to identify and resolve machining and equipment issues
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or CI methods
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and obtain required government authorizations

Preferred

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or regulated manufacturing
  • Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 environments
  • Lean Six Sigma training or certification
