We are supporting a well-established industrial machinery business in the Netherlands looking to strengthen its procurement team with an Operational Buyer.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials to support production and customer delivery.
The Role
As Operational Buyer, you will be responsible for the execution of purchasing activities, working closely with suppliers, production, and planning teams to ensure materials are available on time, at the right cost and quality.
You will play a key role in maintaining supplier performance and keeping operations running efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute purchase orders and manage day-to-day procurement activities
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and delivery reliability
- Act as the key point of contact for suppliers on operational matters
- Resolve delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies
- Maintain accurate data within ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
- Collaborate with planning, production, and logistics teams to align supply with demand
- Support inventory optimisation and stock level management
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes
Profile
- Experience in operational buying / purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Exposure to technical components, mechanical parts, or machinery-related materials
- Strong coordination and organisational skills with attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational setting
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP or similar)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships
- Fluency in English; Dutch is highly preferred
