A leading paper product manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cogen Superintendent to oversee cogeneration operations at its Oxnard mill. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday role offering the opportunity to lead critical energy operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Overview:
The Cogen Superintendent will plan, organize, and direct the operation of cogeneration systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. This position reports directly to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the cogeneration boiler, backup power boiler, and mill air systems.
- Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental programs.
- Manage operating budgets and financial performance of the operation.
- Develop and implement long-term capital and strategic improvement plans.
- Lead and develop direct reports and union employees toward a self-directed, reliability-focused organization.
- Communicate business strategy, goals, and initiatives effectively to team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Pulp & Paper Engineering.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience leading power and turbine generator operations.
- Expertise in managing outages, shutdowns, and start-ups of cogeneration equipment.
- Strong leadership skills in a union environment with proven ability to drive organizational change.
- Proficiency in MS Office and analytical tools like PI Processbook.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Work Environment
- Large manufacturing facility operating 24/7.
- Exposure to loud noise, heat, humidity, and mechanical equipment.
- PPE required: hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
