Project Engineer
My Client is seeking a highly driven Project Engineer to lead and support capital project execution within a complex industrial manufacturing environment. This role serves as a flexible, multifunctional project leader responsible for coordinating engineering, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
The ideal candidate combines strong project execution skills with hands‑on field coordination experience, enabling successful delivery of capital projects across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Coordinate all phases of capital projects from initiation through commissioning and handover to operations.
- Support development and execution of project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk management strategies.
- Monitor project scope, cost, schedule, and performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Drive effective project governance, change management, and issue resolution.
Field Coordination & Contractor Management
- Act as the primary interface between contractors, engineering teams, operations, maintenance, and leadership.
- Coordinate field execution activities to ensure workfront readiness and minimize delays.
- Manage contractor performance, progress tracking, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Facilitate communication across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and EHS.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and safety reviews.
- Ensure operability, maintainability, and safety considerations are incorporated into project execution.
Commissioning & Startup
- Support pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Coordinate handoff from project teams to operations, ensuring readiness and documentation completeness.
- Contribute to startup planning and execution to ensure smooth transitions into production.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain adherence to industry standards, quality systems, and operational best practices.
- Support documentation management, reporting, and performance tracking.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in capital project execution, project engineering, or construction within an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and contractor coordination.
- Experience working in manufacturing or process plant environments.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience with EPC contractors and large‑scale capital projects.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Primavera or similar).
- Knowledge of commissioning and startup processes.
- Formal project management training or certification (e.g., PMP).
