Packaging Quality Coordinator
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001, including document control, audits, and customer/supplier compliance requirements.
- Lead nonconformances, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes; verify effectiveness and drive reduction in defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Support inspection and testing activities (first article, in-process, and final), manage sampling plans, and ensure calibration of measurement tools.
- Coordinate and maintain the facility's Food Safety Program, including HACCP/Preventive Controls, cGMPs, allergen control, foreign material control, and sanitation verification.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with GFSI standards (BRCGS/FSSC), FSMA requirements, and FDA 21 CFR regulations relevant to food-contact packaging.
- Oversee Supplier Quality for raw materials: approvals, COAs, performance monitoring, and compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Support traceability/recall programs, mock recalls, batch/lot genealogy, and environmental or foreign material monitoring (as applicable).
- Participate in EHS programs, including OSHA compliance, safety training, inspections, incident investigations, JHAs, near‑miss reporting, and follow‑up on corrective actions.
- Deliver or coordinate plant training on quality, food safety, and safety topics, promoting a strong cGMP, 5S, and continuous improvement culture.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and records; use plant systems (ERP/MES/LIMS/eQMS/eHS) to generate reports, dashboards, and trend analyses for leadership.
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR equivalent experience in manufacturing (packaging, plastics, converting, printing, or similar).
- 2+ years of experience in quality, food safety, or EHS within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of HACCP/cGMPs, basic GFSI scheme expectations (BRCGS or FSSC), and ISO 9001.
- Experience with nonconformance/CAPA, internal audits, and customer complaint handling.
- OSHA 30 certification (General Industry).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and strong documentation/communication skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and support off‑shift activities when needed.
Preferred
- Experience in food-contact packaging (film extrusion, thermoforming, injection/blow molding, paperboard, labels, flexibles).
- HACCP or PCQI certification; Internal Auditor training (ISO 9001, BRCGS/FSSC).
- Familiarity with OSHA programs (LOTO, machine guarding, hazard communication).
- Experience with SPC, sampling plans, capability studies, or quality data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with eQMS, LIMS, MES, or Power BI.
