About the Opportunity
Our client is a globally recognized lifestyle fashion and sportswear brand with an established regional sourcing and product development office in Hong Kong. As part of continued business growth, they are seeking an Assistant Product Development Manager - Apparel to support the end-to-end development of knit and woven apparel collections, partnering closely with design, merchandising, sourcing, and manufacturing teams across Asia.

Job Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end product development process for knit and woven apparel categories from design handover to production readiness.
- Collaborate closely with global design, merchandising, technical, and sourcing teams to ensure product execution aligns with brand vision, quality standards, target cost, and timelines.
- Partner with suppliers and factories across Asia on sample development, costing, material sourcing, construction, and production feasibility.
- Review prototypes, fit samples, and pre-production samples, providing technical and commercial recommendations.
- Drive development calendar management and ensure on-time delivery of all milestones.
- Identify opportunities for product innovation, sustainable materials, new manufacturing techniques, and process improvements.
- Analyze garment construction, workmanship, fit, and performance requirements to ensure commercial viability and product excellence.
- Support cost engineering initiatives and value analysis activities without compromising product quality or aesthetics.
- Work closely with sourcing teams to resolve development, quality, and production challenges.
- Maintain accurate product data, development records, and sample tracking throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor market trends, competitor products, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing innovations to support future seasonal developments.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Fashion, Textile or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years of apparel product development experience, ideally within international fashion, sportswear or lifestyle brands.
- Strong technical knowledge of knit and woven garment construction, fit, fabrication, trims, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing vendor and factory partnerships across China and Asia.
- Solid understanding of costing, development calendars, critical path management, and commercialisation processes.
- Ability to interpret design concepts and translate them into commercially viable products.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese including Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the region.
- Candidates who have hands-on experience with less experience can be considered as Senior Product Developer.
