Sanitation Supervisor
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sanitation Manager to lead all night shift sanitation operations at a high-volume baked goods manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the plant is maintained in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards while leading a team of sanitation professionals. The Sanitation Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support audit readiness, and ensure sanitation programs effectively minimize food safety risks and support efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all night shift sanitation activities across production, packaging, warehouse, and common areas.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop a team of sanitation supervisors and hourly sanitation associates.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC, and company food safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve sanitation programs, SSOPs, and cleaning procedures.
- Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections, environmental monitoring, ATP testing, and microbiological programs.
- Investigate sanitation-related deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Partner with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Operations teams to ensure equipment cleanliness and plant readiness for production startup.
- Manage sanitation chemical programs, inventory, vendor relationships, and chemical usage compliance.
- Lead preparation and support for customer, third-party, and regulatory audits.
- Develop sanitation KPIs and analyze performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed and maintain compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Support capital projects, equipment installations, and hygienic design initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of sanitation leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in baked goods, bakery, snack, frozen food, dairy, or other high-volume food production environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, BRC, and sanitation best practices.
- Proven experience leading, training, and developing sanitation teams in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with environmental monitoring programs and sanitation validation activities.
- Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- PCQI, HACCP, or SQF Practitioner certification.
- Experience with dry cleaning sanitation programs in bakery manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of allergen control programs and preventive controls.
- Experience managing sanitation budgets and chemical supplier relationships.
