Schedule: Monday-Friday, First Shift (Additional hours and on-call support required as business needs dictate)

Position Overview

A leading global specialty chemicals manufacturer is seeking a Senior Production Manager to lead production operations at a highly visible manufacturing facility in South Carolina. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, productivity, quality, employee development, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing organization.

The Senior Production Manager will provide leadership to multiple production teams and frontline supervisors while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role requires a strong background in chemical manufacturing, proven experience leading people in an industrial environment, and the ability to drive performance through engagement, accountability, and process discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives are achieved.
  • Provide leadership and development for production supervisors, team leaders, and hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Foster a culture centered on safety, operational discipline, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Plant Leadership to achieve site goals.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and operational excellence initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, and performance management processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Participate in capital project planning and execution to improve operational capability and reliability.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources to meet financial objectives.
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team and contribute to long-term operational strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience within the chemical industry.
  • Prior experience managing and developing teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading through production supervisors and frontline leaders.
  • Strong understanding of process manufacturing operations.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational performance.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety programs, quality systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience within specialty chemicals, industrial chemicals, performance materials, or related process manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence certifications.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, process improvements, and manufacturing expansions.
  • Previous leadership experience within a multi-shift manufacturing operation.
