Compensation: $115,000-$125,000 base

A major player in the steel industry is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to support its rolling mills and steelmaking operations. Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware & software) to improve production, quality, and energy efficiency
- Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs across steelmaking and rolling operations
- Analyze and optimize automation processes from scrap melting to finished product
- Integrate control systems with company-wide information systems
- Write technical specifications and system architecture documentation
- Lead and manage automation projects from concept to completion
- Provide on-call support for urgent system issues and maintenance needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automated Manufacturing Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation
- Proficient with Allen-Bradley PLCs and VFDs (Fanuc, Modicon, or Toolbox experience a plus)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to be on-call for emergency support
