Global Sourcing Manager
The Global Sourcing Manager is responsible to own, manage and drive measurable improvement in procurement strategies for his/her assigned categories. The incumbent performs assignments requiring a broad and comprehensive knowledge of the market(s) for assigned categories as well as procurement best practices, theories, principles and disciplines. S/he evaluates variable issues and risks, facilitates mitigation and resolution of issues and interacts with senior management on a regular basis.
S/he will oversee complex global purchases and coordinate associated work with Category Managers, Business Analysts and Sourcing Specialists. In this position, s/he will also be responsible for providing best practice consultation and collaborating with internal clients, qualifying and developing sourcing/supplier strategies. Ensure compliance and alignment with strategic corporate goals, contractual requests and stipulations from clients including risk management, regulations and total cost of ownership. The Global Category Sourcing Manager is accountable for large, complex contracts and for delivering annual/Y-o-Y cost savings.
Key Accountabilities:
Category Strategy Development and Execution
- Develop and lead complex strategic global and regional category plans that align with business strategies, future roadmaps and organizational vision.
- Identify, own, and drive measurable improvement and innovation in the selection and development of suppliers to optimize value in assigned raw material categories.
- Provide expert internal assessment of current and future need and external assessment of market trends and competitive suppliers
- Lead and work through influence- ability to push for results while understanding that regional colleagues report into region leads
Develop and Execute Sourcing Strategy
- Based on the category sourcing strategy and TCO, select and negotiate complex agreements with suppliers while establishing and maintaining contractual and business relationships with the suppliers.
- Customize standard sourcing process to align to business opportunities, goals and strategies and present innovative sourcing alternatives.
- Execute, for the categories owned, the following procurement process steps: Needs/specifications; category strategy development; strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations; implementation; supplier development strategy and contract administration.
- Lead global cross-functional teams to ensure that Business Units and Corporate Departments provide input and are represented in the execution of the strategies for their category.
- Global Category Market Expertise - Remain current with future trends within the global marketplace by maintaining relationships with suppliers, and other market experts.
- Identify supplier risks and category implications and provide stakeholders with intelligence to make informed business decisions. Escalate defined risks and mitigation recommendations to senior leadership when required.
- Negotiate and Manage Contracts - Negotiate terms and conditions with key global and regional suppliers for the more complex, strategic and higher dollar contracts to ensure optimum price competitiveness and service levels are maintained.
- Serve as liaison for business to ensure business requirements are captured and make recommendations for additional requirements.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Five plus years of professional procurement experience with additional experience working on a global scope for the sourcing of raw materials
- Advanced knowledge in assigned categories including market-place, key suppliers and future trends.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex global projects coupled with significant financial responsibility.
- Significant experience in negotiating large, complex contracts and solid knowledge of key contractual language
- Experience in a procurement role demonstrating strong tactical and strategic skills and a track record of success working in a global, team-based environment.
Education:
- BS in Sciences/engineering, supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field. MBA is a benefit.
